BREAKING: President Declines White House Meeting, Says Any Meeting About Resources Must hold InCountry

Duma Boko, Botswana current leader has rejected White House Invitation, Insisting that any talks about the country and its resources must take place in Botswana.

The President was reportedly said he would nkt accept an invitation from the United States President to visit the White House, making it clear that any discussions about Botswana’s natural resources must take place on Botswana’s soil.

Speaking firmly, President Boko emphasized that

“If there is any official business to discuss, it should take place in Botswana. We cannot continue traveling abroad to negotiate matters concerning our own resources.”

He emphasized that Botswana should not have to go overseas to negotiate issues directly connected to its minerals, assets, and long-term national interests restating that if international partners are genuinely interested in doing business, they should come to Botswana and engage within the country.

He further added that

“In business, buyers go to the sellers,”

President Boko’s statement that suggests need for seriousness, fairness, and mutual respect in international partnerships and such dealings a move widely seen as a strong statement of sovereignty and confidence reflecting a growing trend among African nations to rethink how they handle high-level economic diplomacy and resource negotiations in today’s changing global order which should be driven by partnerships, mutual respect, and balance, that re-enforces national dignity and interaction nit orders from a buyer to a resource owner.

Meanwhile, some political economist are posing the question on whether resource owner nations especially in Africa are prepared to pursue an international economic policy that would tilt global economic cooperation in favour of the continent noting the penchant of their leaders for constant travels to beg for loans and aid from abroad.
