No fewer that 10 people have been reportedly killed following an attack suspected to be unleashed on Katara Community, Pandan development Area in Nasarawa state.

Recalled that killers suspected to be Fulani militia had on Saturday Night at about 10 pm launched an unprovoked attacked on residents of Tatara village in Panda Development Area of Nasarawa State.

Investigation conducted in the area has revealed that the situation was far from what was earlier reported that the attack was an robbery attacked leaving where not less than 10 people were reported killed while three persons were injured.

It was gathered that a group of people suspected to be Fulani militia invaded the community with motor cycles, shooting sporadically where three persons were initially feared killed as the first victims .

Further checks revealed that before the security arrived the scene of the mayhem, more people numbering about Seven were allegedly killed.

Our correspondent learnt that on arrival by the security, the killers have fled the community leaving behind their motor cycles.

unconfirmed Sources in the area alleged that the assailant were suspected to have invaded the community from near by villages of Kaduna neighboring Tatara , who after the attacked escaped their hideouts.

One of the sources who confided on our Correspondent on account on anonymity said, ” I received a called at around 12 am on Sunday confirming that gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia allegedly stormed the village, shooting indiscriminately and leaving seven innocent killed.

” This vicious attack is reportedly part of a series of assaults that have plagued the area for some time. Our primary concerned as a group and security committee is on finding solutions to prevent such repeated attacks and ensure the safety and well-being of the affected communities, particularly Tatara village” the source stated.

He urged relevant authorities to take immediate action to: Investigate the attack and bring perpetrators to justice.
as well as implement effective measures to prevent future attacks. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and the people of Tatara village.

Meanwhile, concerned by the reported attack, governor Abdullahi Sule on Monday visited the community, Panda, Karu LGA for an on the spot assessment at Tatara to ascertain the alleged attack on the community last Saturday, 11th January, 2025.

Sule who promised that a supper military Camp would be established in the community, however commiserated with the people of Panda Development Area assuring them of his administration’s commitment to ensure security of lives and property in the area and the state in general.

He said as an immediate intervention a super military Camp would immediately be established in Tatara to boost security.
