Lead your people with fairness, wisdom, integrity – Gov Fintiri Charges monarchs

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has charged newly appointed traditional ruler in the state to lead with integrity, wisdom, fairness and accountability.
Speaking when he met with the newly appointed traditional rulers of the recently established Emirates and Chiefdoms., Athe governor noted that as custodian of the people and culture, they should show exemplary leadership quality at all times.

According to a statement issued by Domiya Ijafiya SSA Digital Communications to the Governor indicates that the meeting which was held at the Government House in Yola, marked the governor’s first official interaction with the monarchs since their appointment.

Governor Fintiri charged the traditional rulers to lead with integrity, fairness, wisdom, and accountability, urging them to avoid tribal and religious sentiments in their domains, emphasizing that their primary responsibility is to serve the people diligently and inclusively.

The governor, according to the statement, cautioned against the abrupt appointment of title holders, insisting on adherence to established guidelines and thorough security checks to avoid empowering individuals with questionable character.

Governor Fintiri further encouraged the monarchs to work closely with district and village heads, ensuring that transparency and accountability remain at the core of their leadership. He urged them to promptly report sasuspicious activities or shady characters to appropriate authorities for necessary action.

The Governor while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare of traditional rulers, he highlighted the crucial role of traditional rulers in bridging governance gaps, improving security, and bringing government closer to the grassroots.

Governor Fintiri called on the monarchs to leverage their experience and expertise to support the government in delivering good governance.

On environmental matters, the governor charged them on the need to enforce regulations banning indiscriminate tree felling for charcoal production.

He emphasized on the environmental hazards caused by deforestation and pointed out his administration’s efforts in planting one million economic trees and promoting alternative energy sources such as charcoal briquettes.

Governor Fintiri concluded by announcing the coronation dates for the new monarchs as follows:

Fufore: 5th February 2025, 10:00 AM
Yungur: 6th February 2025, 10:00 AM
Gombi: 8th February 2025, 10:00 AM
Maiha: 13th February 2025
Hong: 14th February 2025
Madagali: 19th February 2025
Michika: 20th February 2025

The Ptil of Madagali, HRH Dr. Ali Danburam, who spoke on behalf of the new monarchs, expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for his vision and courage in creating the new Emirates and Chiefdoms. He pledged that the traditional rulers would lead with honesty, dedication, transparency, and fairness, supporting the government in its quest to deliver good governance.

The meeting was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Awwal D. Tukur; Chief of Staff, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday; and the new traditional rulers, including HRH Dr. Ali Danburam (Ptil Madagali), HRH Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu (Emir of Fufore), HRH Barr. Alheri B. Nyako (Tol Huba), HRH Prof. Bulus Luka Gadiga (Mbege Ka Michika), HRH Aggrey Ali (Kumu of Gombi), HRH Ahmadu Saibaru (Emir of Maiha), and HRH John Dio (Gubo Yungur).

Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s dedication to repositioning the traditional institution for greater impact, ensuring that it serves as a vital tool for promoting peace, security, and sustainable development in Adamawa State.
