The last has not been heard in the camp of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in Nasarawa State as the build up to the 2027 Governorship election in the State gathers momentum,with all interest groups within are scrambling for the spoil, each laying claims to soul of the party almost at dagger drawn.
The crack in the party became obvious during the last stakeholders meeting of the party presided by the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, With Stake holders charting away forward for the party in order tightened it noose of it grip to power.
Speaking at the meeting, the National Legal Adviser of the party, professor Abdulkarim Kana among others, proposed the expulsion of all Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s elements in the State APC, as they weild a great influenced in the party despite being a member of the Social Democratic party, SDP and the current Senator Representing Nasarawa West in the Nigerian Senate and also interested succeeding Governor Sule in 2027.
Prof. Kana identified the wadada group as very powerful, accusing them of infiltrating the ranks of the party leadership, pointing at the State party chairman, Aliyu Bello, as mould of Wadada because of his relationship with the one time Governorship aspirant on the platform of the APC.
Another group led by the Barrister Mohammed Hasan Abbdulahi, a former minister of State for Environment who is from the Western zone of State has also accused the the State APC chairman of unduly favouring Wadada for the top job in 2027, the group also alleged that Senator Wadada in his quest to attack the former ministeri, is using his position as the Chairman, Public Accounts Committee(PAC) of the Nigerian Senate, is trying to drag the entire Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria into his personal war with some leading contenders of the gubernatorial contest in Nasarawa State particularly Barrister Abdullahi to prove his activities as a minister during the administration of former president Muhammed Buhari
With the call for the sack of Aliyu Bello as the APC getting to it crescendo, a group, Youths coalition for better APC Nasarawa state called on the leadership of the party to close ranks and work tirelessly for the progress of the party in the state and beyond .
At the meeting,the youth coalition for better APC Nasarawa state is advocating for unity and harmonious existence in the party ,to enable it sustain the gains of democracy and good governance to the teeming population in the state .
The youth group however, expressed displeasure with the way some members of the party are conducting themselves in the public ,alleging that their activities is synonymous to anti party and detrimental to the good image of the party .
They appealed to the party stalwarts to investigate the activities of such individuals and also reconcile aggrieved party members to avoid the any situation that can affect the party’s progress in future elections.
Meanwhile the party chairman, Aliyu Bello, has debunked rumor making the rounds that he is working to installs Senator Aliyu Wadada, senator representing Nasarawa west under the platform Social Democratic Party, at the National Assembly as governor come 2027 in the rulling party.
The State APC Chairman who Denied the rumor during a press conference held at the party’s secretariat in Lafia the state capital; said the serving senator Aliyu Wadada is his bosom friend for over forty-four years now.
It would be recalled that Governor Sule during the 2023 election praised Senator Wadada of campaigning for him to become Governor despite being a member of an opposition party and standing election on the platform, the last has not been heard of the governor’s position in this regard.
