Ahead of 2027 general election, a wave of defections, leadership and betrayal of trust are said to be threatening the ruling All Progressive Congress APC in Bauchi as scores of the party members in Giade LGA have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which is in power in Bauchi state. .
This is even as concern Stakeholders of APC in Nasarawa state have appealed to Governor Abdullahi Sule to urgently intervene to rescue the party from eminent collapse.
The defectors in their thousands were officially received and welcomed into the party by the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, at government house Bauchi
The defectors led by one time member of Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Adamu Bello, a prominent political figure from the area who recently defected from the APC.
The event, which took place at the Government House in Bauchi, saw the new PDP members warmly welcomed by the Governor, who praised their decision to join the party.
Senator Bala Muhammad expressed his commitment to providing a level playing field for all party members, assuring them that they would be given equal opportunities without bias or favouritism.
According to him, “I commend your decision to join the PDP, and I want to assure you that this is a party that values inclusivity, fairness, and equal opportunity for all members.”
The governor also said during the meeting that, “As your leader, I will ensure that you are given the necessary support to thrive within the party, and together, we will continue to work towards the development of our state.”
Hon. Adamu Bello, who led the decampees while speaking, expressed gratitude to Governor Muhammad for his warm reception and recognition of their political transition
Hon.Adamu Bello noted that the decision to move to the PDP was driven by a shared vision for the future of Bauchi State, one that prioritises development, unity, and progress for all its citizens.
According to him, “We are deeply honoured by the governor’s hospitality and the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the PDP in Bauchi State. We believe that under the leadership of Senator Bala Mohammed, the state will continue to flourish.”
The decamping of the APC members from Giade LGA is seen as a significant political shift in the region, as the PDP seeks to strengthen its presence and broaden its support base in Bauchi State ahead of future elections.
