Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang

Tourism is a powerful driver of the global economy, contributing immensely to the world’s GDP and creating millions of jobs. Nations and regions around the globe recognize the benefits of a robust tourism sector—not just for economic growth, but also for cultural exchange, environmental awareness, and community development.

In Nigeria, Plateau State is emerging as a model of this revitalization under the visionary leadership of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

Governor Mutfwang has embarked on an ambitious journey to transform Plateau State’s hospitality industry and rekindle its status as Nigeria’s tourism haven.

Transparency, integrity, and compassion are the cornerstones of his administration, as he strives to restore the state’s prominence on both national and international stages.

Plateau State, with its striking landscapes and unique mountain ranges, has long been celebrated for its tourism potential. In the 1970s, the state was a preferred destination for Europeans, who flocked to its cool climate and welcoming communities each summer.

This legacy, however, faded over time due to a lack of innovation and commitment. But with the arrival of Governor Mutfwang, Plateau State is now witnessing a renaissance.

In his first few months in office, Governor Mutfwang has taken significant steps to breathe new life into the tourism sector. One of his landmark initiatives is a formal partnership with Aviare Global Concepts Limited to transform Plateau Resort and Hotels Limited into a world-class facility.

This venture is expected to generate employment, increase internally generated revenue, and attract international visitors, thereby boosting Plateau state’s economy.

The agreement, known as the Heads of Terms, was signed recently at the Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. Hon. Danlami Jelka, Managing Director of the Plateau Investment and Property Development Company (PIPC), signed on behalf of the state, while Mr. Kudla Satumari, Chairman of Aviare Global Concepts Limited, signed for his company.

This partnership, overseen by Governor Mutfwang, represents a major step in positioning Plateau State as a top tourist destination in Nigeria.

Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to tourism development is further evidenced by another recent agreement with Strom Infrastructure Investment and Management Limited to revive Hill Station Hotel in Jos, to restore it to world-class standards.

After addressing initial challenges, including relocating security personnel who had been using the premises, work is set to commence on the site. The administration is also working tirelessly to resolve outstanding disputes between hotel management and staff, in order to ensure smooth progress on the project.

In addition to his focus on hospitality, Governor Mutfwang is making strides in agriculture, with a notable partnership with Shagaya Agric Ltd to establish a large-scale, integrated cattle feedlot operation in Zallaki, Bassa Local Government Area. This comprehensive project includes feed production, biodiesel production, and industrial agriculture, and is designed to address food security while reducing conflicts between farmers and herders.

The MOU signed with Shagaya Agric Ltd signals a transformative step towards sustainable agriculture. Supported by a team of experts, the initiative is set to enhance the production of beef, livestock feed, and silage, while creating job opportunities and fostering economic growth.

Governor Mutfwang’s administration is committed to supporting agricultural innovation, with these projects registered with all relevant state ministries and agencies to attract private investment and ensure smooth implementation.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s initiatives in both tourism and agriculture reflect a dynamic and inclusive approach to Plateau’s development. By attracting global and local investors, he is not only boosting the state’s economy but also restoring hope among its citizens.

In just seventeen months, Governor Mutfwang has showcased a new model of leadership—one that combines vision with actionable steps, laying the foundation for a brighter future for Plateau State.
