OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, SENATOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO, THE GOVERNOR OF EDO STATE ON THE DETHRONEMENT OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, OBA BAMIDELE OBAITAN, THE OLOSOSO OF OSOSO KINGDOM

Gov Okpebholo

Your Excellency,

I write to express my deep concern and outrage over the dethronement of His Royal Highness, Oba Bamidele Obaitan, the Olososo of Ososo Kingdom, Okuedu the 111, without due process and fair hearing. The unilateral decision to remove our revered king is perceived as a politically motivated act that undermines the cultural heritage and dignity of our kingdom.

We find it disturbing that the state government did not deem it fit to invite stakeholders from our kingdom or conduct a thorough investigation before taking this drastic measure. This action is a clear violation of His Royal Highness’s constitutional right to fair hearing, as guaranteed under Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

To the best of our knowledge, Ososo Kingdom is at peace, and the people of the four quarters that make up the kingdom are well-represented and live in harmony with one another. We are also aware that there have been no formal complaints against His Royal Highness. If any complaints existed, the absence of any invitation to him or our kingdom’s representatives raises serious questions about the legitimacy of this action.

As a peace-loving leader of the kingdom, I have urged the youths to exercise restraint and avoid provocative reactions as we explore peaceful resolutions. However, we cannot remain silent in the face of this injustice.

I appeal to Your Excellency to reconsider this decision and reinstate His Royal Highness, Oba Bamidele Obaitan, as the rightful Olososo of Ososo Kingdom. If Your Excellency’s intention is to democratize our stool or re-gazette a rotational chieftaincy in our great kingdom, as stated in your letter dethroning our king, I urge you to study the historical perspectives and engage stakeholders before setting our kingdom back to a state of anarchy.

I join the people of good conscience in Edo State, both at home and in the diaspora, in requesting that you provide a clear explanation for the dethronement and ensure that the rights and dignity of our kingdom are respected.

Yours sincerely,

Chief Otaru Douglas Ogborere JP
The Odiase of Ososo Kingdom.
Pls, Abdul, kindly help me publish.
