The Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Nation, His Royal Majesty, Agaba-Iduh, Dr. John Odogbo, has bestowed his royal blessing on the former Commissioner of Finance in Benue State, Dr David Olofu, to propel further his bid for the Benue South Senatorial District seat.
The monarch gave his blessing, when Dr Olufu paid him a consultation visit at the Och’Idoma’s Palace in Otukpo. he headquarters of Idoma land.
Speaking during the visit, the senatorial hopeful contesting on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC), outlined his vision for the district, focusing on key areas such as security, agriculture, healthcare, and education.
He pledged to leverage modern technology to combat insecurity, empower rural women through agricultural training, and enhance healthcare services in the district.
The senatorial aspirant also promised to expand the scholarship scheme he established two years ago for indigent students in the Senatorial district which had benefited over 200 students to the tune of N100,000 each in addition to the promotion of science and technology education.
Olofu’s manifesto includes establishing a People’s Assembly and Senatorial Council to drive development, fostering inclusivity, and promoting unity among stakeholders.
He vowed to work with lawmakers, traditional rulers, and critical stakeholders to achieve his objectives, emphasizing that leadership is about responsibility and inclusivity.
In his response, the Royal Father, a revered spiritual leader and chartered accountant, praised Olofu’s commitment to the district’s progress stressing that he had been praying for a leader with the fear of God and love for the Idoma people, and believes Dr. Olofu embodies these qualities.
Citing the biblical example of David’s ascension to leadership, the Paramount Ruler blessed Dr. Olofu, saying, “May God grant you your heart’s desires.”
The royal endorsement has significantly boosted Olofu’s quest and generated enthusiasm among his supporters, who hail him as a transformative leader poised to unlock the district’s potential.
As the district prepares for the 2027 elections, Dr. Olofu’s campaign is expected to gain momentum, with his vision and commitment to progress resonating with voters.
Dr Olofu was accompanied to the Palace by the First Class Chief of Apa/Agatu, Agangwu Baba Odangla, former Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Chief Godwin Ukpoju, forme secretary to the government of Benue State, Professor David Salifu, Chief Donald Agida, Prince Okwute, former member of the Benue State House of Assembly, Honourable Baba Otache.
Others are Pastor Oowo Ameh, Dr Adakole Elijah, Hon. Rose Ameh, Hon Dan Atayi, Hon Abuh Echo, Hon Ramat Yusuf, Pastor Omale, Members of Benue South Lawyers led by Barr. Ada Oche, the nine chairmen of the African Democratic Congress in Benue South Senatorial District amongst others.
