Dr Anthony George Manzo, a former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who represented Taraba North at the National Assembly has obtained the All Progressives Congress(APC) nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the governorship primary election in the state.
Manzo, a former Chief of staff to President of the Senate, David Mark said his decision to run for the office of governor in Taraba was born out of passion for good and inclusive governance for the state. He said the state is in dire need of purposeful leadership which he intends to offer.
The medical doctor said he has the required experience to bring Taraba state out of the wood of bad governance and positon it where it rightfully belongs as Nature’s Gift to the Nation.
Senator Manzo was former Commissioner of Health, Taraba State and at one time Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, Abuja.
During the second term of the administration of president Olusegun Obasanjo, Manzo was Ambassador of Nigeria to Israel. From his experience in Israel he concluded that the strength of democratic institutions was more important than that of individual office holders. In January 2005 he was also appointed High Commissioner of Nigeria to Cyprus.
