The promoter of Oduduwa Republic, Professor Banji Akintoye, has warned Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and others who attended the All-Progressive Congress meeting in Lagos State on Sunday not to work against the interest of the Yorubas.
Professor Akintoye, who is also the President of Ilana Omo Oduduwa, lamented the unfortunate moves by Tinubu and other southwest Governors to kick against the establishment of the Oduduwa Republic and clinched one Nigeria, adding that they will certainly regret the decision shortly.
Part of the statement read:” My prayer is that when they come to regret it, they will have the courage to change it and thereby re-establish themselves in the swelling current of Yoruba thought, Yoruba desire, and Yoruba expectations.”
Tinubu and APC leaders in the South West had earlier kicked against the agitation for the Oduduwa Republic after meeting in Lagos State on Sunday.
However, the leaders supported the ban on open grazing in the region and the call for true federalism, restructuring, and devolution of power.
Other significant figures present at that meeting include: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, amongst others.
