Nasarawa PDP denies defection to APC, disowns suspended party chieftain

The peoples democratic party PDP, in Nasarawa state has dismissed reports claiming that members of a faction loyal to the minister of the federal capital territory FCT, Nyesom Wike, has collapsed its structures to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party described the claim as fabricated, misleading and falsehood and accused the suspended member, Sani Mohammed Keffi, warning the said Sani to desist from dragging the party into his propaganda aimed at achieving personal popularity.

PDP in a statement by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Bako Labaran Musa, and made available to Journalists, said Keffi was no longer a member of the PDP, having been suspended by the party’s national leadership over alleged anti-party activities.

The state chapter maintained that the former party member lacked the authority to speak for the PDP or issue statements on its behalf.

It also rejected attempts by Keffi to link himself with the Wike’s political structure, insisting that he was never a member of the FCT minister’s political camp in the state.

According to the party, Nasarawa remains united and has not experienced any division or contemplated picking tent with APC.

“The party said preparations for the 2027 general elections were on course. Already, PDP has recognised candidates for the governorship, National Assembly and other elective positions following processes conducted by the party’s national headquarters.

PDP therefore called on its members and the general public to ignore the reported collapse of its, insisting that only statements issued by the recognised state leadership reflect the official position of the party.

The statement further advised the public to be wary of Sani Muhammad Keffi’s anti party activities stating that anyone in search of what to eat should not deployed its antics using the party to realize his ambition.

The PDP recalled that Sani Muhammad Keffi has since been suspended as member of PDP in Nasarawa and remained suspended from the party, the statement declared.
