Prominent Lawyers have revealed why the the secessionist leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu was not produced in court today Monday 26th, July 2021.
Nnamdi Kanu’s trial which was slated for today Monday 26th July, 2021 has again been adjourned till October 21st due to the failure of the Department of State Service (DSS) to produce Nnamdi Kanu in court for trial.
Speaking to Newsmen outside the courtroom, a Chieftain and Lawyer of the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Chief Godwin Nwagzurike, who lamented that they have not seen Nmandi Kanu, stated that he still remains their son. He added that for the DSS to refuse producing Kanu in court was questionable.
Also, a Chieftain of the Ohaneze and a former Governor of Anambra State Dr. Chukwuemeka Eze who was also present in court expressed his disappointment over the refusal of the DSS and the federal government to produce Nnamdi Kanu in Court which according to him was kidnaped by the federal government from Kenya, He called on the Press to see to it that justice was done.
However, in a chat with TMS News correspondent, the lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu; Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor disclosed that he has been denied access to see his client; Kanu for over eight days now, which he has complained in court. He admitted to having heard of the stories making the rounds of Kanu being moved from Abuja to an unknown location, which was one of the reason why he made effort to see him but was denied access by the DSS.
Ejiofor revealed that the DSS told the court that Nnamdi Kanu could not be produced in court due to some logistic failure, that they was no vehicle in the entire DSS office to convey Kanu to court, adding that the court was however suppose to vacate today Monday, but the presiding Judge, Justice Binta Nyako, has propose to request for an order from the Chief Justice of the the Federation to revisit the trial on the 21st of October, 2021.
