The Chairman Senate Committee on Army, Sen Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, led a condolence visit to the Army Headquarters to honor the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
Sen Yar’adua praised Gen Lagbaja’s leadership qualities, describing him as a thorough bred professional who was honest and selfless.
He recalled Gen Lagbaja’s unreserved apology and acceptance of responsibility for the unfortunate drone strike by the Nigerian Army, which resulted in civilian casualties in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State.
The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Olatubosun Oloyede, thanked the committee for their condolence visit.
Sen Yar’adua’s visit to the Army Headquarters demonstrated the strong relationship between the legislative and military arms of government.
The senators then proceeded to the late COAS’s residence in Niger Barracks, where they commiserated with his wife and family, and signed the condolence register.
