Canvasses inclusion of more women in governance.

Wife of the 2023 guber candidate of the people’s Democratic party, PDP, Mrs Miranda Ombugadu yesterday distributed over 150, 000 sets of wrappers and several other items to women in Nasarawa state in commemoration of the year’s international women’s Day in the state
Speaking in the Akwanga Local Government Area at the 2024 International Women’s Day celebration tagged Invest in Women: ‘Accelerate Progress’ Mrs Ombugadu said the distribution was her contribution to reduce the hardship being faced by Nigerians especially the women folks and to help set off those who needed a chance to make the business decision.
She expressed confidence that if women were being empowered adequately, appointed into governance, they would stimulate economic growth towards moving the nation to greater heights.
Ombugadu’s wife argued that women contributions to the growth of the state were not appropriately recognized despite their numbers urging them not to relent in offering useful advice to people in authority as well as their husbands and brothers in service to do more for the good of the state and the nation.
It would be recalled that the 2023 governorship candidate of the PDP, David Ombugadu had contested the election against the incumbent Governor, Abdullahi Sule who was announced winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, and also at the courts having esrlier been declared winner at the tribunal.
Mrs. Ombugadu eulogized her husband for always being in the forefront of empowering and supporting women to reach their full potential in their chosen fields of endeavours she, being an example.
“I thank the President for being gender sensitive and friendly even though much is still being expected. we are looking forward to seeing more women in his cabinet saying. “considering the present state of the nation, I am also looking forward to seeing more women as senators, ministers, and governors.
“The 2024 theme of the commemorative day which is, “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress, “resonates with my vision for every woman in Nasarawa State. “Whether in agriculture, the economy, sports, politics, or entertainment, I urge you all to tap into your immense potentials and contribute to the tremendous growth of our state and nation.
“On behalf of my husband, Rt. Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, who has been my pillar and support, and my entire household, I wish the resilient and committed women of Nasarawa State a Happy International Women’s Day, 2024.”
Several thousands of women throng the residence of Dr Ombugadu, venue of the event in solidarity with the host. Awards of various categories were presented to deserving women to serve as encouragement to others.
