Wife of late party leader and elderstatesman Chief Mrs Solomon Daushep Lar has called to question the process of selecting candidates for political parties in the country, saying that such needs to be fine tuned for quality leadership to evolve in the land.
Prof Lar stated this during a visit to Dr. Mike Omeri, former Director General of the National Orientation Agency, NOA who was an aspirant in the just concluded Senatorial Primary elections in Nasarawa South, in Nasarawa State.
She said Mike you have undertaken “a worthy political journey so far and with time, people will get know what you truly mean for the nation”
Mama Lar, wife of Late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar said she visited Omeri to pray with him and encourage him not to give up his dreams of representing his people at the Red chamber regardless of the temporary obstacles being encountered today.
Omeri narrowly lost the Nasarawa South Senatorial primaries having scored 76 votes as against 88 scored by Hon Ogoshi Onawo a two term House of Representatives member.
On his part, a member of the Omeri Senatorial campaign think tank, Alhaji Tanimu Sidi Abani decried the increase in religionization and ethnicization of politics in the country. He said it is very disturbing that in today’s Nigeria competency is often relegated over religious and other primordial sentiments.
Reacting to the visit, Dr. Mike Omeri expressed gratitude to Mama Lar and also thanked his supporters and campaign team for their resilience throughout the processes leading up to the primaries.
Omeri had earlier addressed his campaign team via tweet, acknowledging their efforts and hard work.
“My great team. It is the will of God. We lost a promising contest, 76 to 88. It was a great run. Many wished it was the general election. But we now have a great platform. Thanks to God for the opportunity. Thank you for the support and confidence in a great run. Vbrgds, Obowu”. He said
Nasarawa South Senatorial District is one of the culturally diverse areas of Nasarawa State which would have benefited legislatively, from the vast network and contacts that omeri has acquired over the years in national politics.
Omeri himself is on record to have been appealing to party faithful and supporters to respect the outcome as God’s plan for now and that every surprise is a miracle and that God knows best. He promised not to relent in the pursuit of possibilities for the people and communities whether elected or not.
