Nasarawa PDP Debunks Merger Rumor

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa state has reacted to rumors going round in the state that the party is in a partnership with a new political party in the state, saying that the party has not entered into any merger agreement with any party at the moment.

Honourable Francis Orogu, chairman of the PDP in Nasarawa state told TMSnews that the party is in a healthy position and not into any merger.

Orogu said “For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP umbrella is large, attractive, and accommodating enough to have a place for everyone wishing to join it and would not leave the comfort of its present membership for any other one.”

He however said that the PDP would only welcome political merger that follows the right political channel.

“However, a party that wishes to merge with the PDP is welcomed to do so through the right political channel.

Such individuals and parties should not engage in attempts to hoodwink, deceive, or misinform unsuspecting members into believing that the new party is an offspring of the PDP.

Besides, the position of INEC and the electoral act is clear that the time for registering any new political parties to participate in the next election is over for now.

Therefore, PDP members are advised to lecture those masquerading on behalf of their non-existent parties to steer clear of the PDP with their misinformation or join it in order to pursue their political mission if they are convinced of their values, patriotism and commitment to state and Nation-Building.” He said
