Imon community seeks end to spate of killings

The murder of a 35 year old Mrs Kpadoo Lazarus Uwua by a suspected minor herder at Imon community in Adudu Chiefdom, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State is said to be causing a ripple and strong condemnation from people around the Chiefdom.
It would be recalled that Mrs Kpadoo Lazarus died in her pool of blood as a result of severe matchet cuts from the suspected minor herder
Mrs Kpadoo Lazarus Uwua, a mother of three who was full of energy and expectations of a fulfilled life for herself and her family life was cut short Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, when a disagreement broke out over fishing activities in a water the minor herder allegedly accused the mother of three of polluting.
When TMSnews cut up with family members of the deceased, Mr Mathew Aondo explained that they are saddened by the ugly incident and called on authorities concerned particularly, Fulani leaders to caution their youths to restraint from heinous acts capable of pitting other ethnic groups against them and destabilizing the existing peace in the area and state in general.
Expressing displeasure with the frequent killings of their wives, fathers, brothers and sisters by the suspected herders,
Youth leader of Imon Community, Comrade Samuel Ortserga condemned the act in strong terms noting said the arrest of the suspect was not enough.
While commending the collaborative efforts of the Youth leader of Ibuan community and that of Adudu Chiefdom for arresting the suspect and subsequently handed over to the police, Comrade Aondo called on the state government, security agencies to step up measure to reduce the incessant killings of their people by the herders
“We are peace loving people. We can not afford to be seeing our loved ones being killed. Government of Nasarawa State should urgently tackled the issue in our community for the interest of peace and unity”.
He appealed to Imon Youths to remain calm to allow the law take its course adding their peaceful disposition should not be misconstrue for weakness.
On his part, the Fulani Youth leader in Adudu Chiefdom, Saleh Anaruwa expressed grief over the needless killing of an innocent and armless woman while trying to fish for a family meal.
He thanked Imon Youths for their peaceful disposition to the sad incident.
Also bearing his mind on the unfortunate incident, District Head of Adudu Chiefdom, Alhaji Abdullahi Tanko commiserated with the family and entire people of Imon over their irreplaceable loss.
He warned herdsmen against violent acts capable of causing full scale crisis in the Chiefdom just as he solicited cooperation of all communities to deepen the existing peace in the area.
Alhaji Tanko assured the bereaved family of a support for the burial of their late wife, Mrs Kpadoo Lazarus Uwua among other assistance.
President, Tiv Youth Organization in Nasarawa State, Comrade Isaiah Audu commended the proactive steps taken by the Tiv and Fulani Youths to ensure that the suspect is arrested by security agents and sued for total restraint among them.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have since been deposited in the mortuary just as the suspect is now with the depart of Criminal investigation in Lafia.
