A 37-year old wom, Aririahu Clare, is allegedly in trouble in Lagos for publishing damaging reports against a man, Osideko Adeola Damilola, to ignite fear and alarm to members of the public on the social media over a squabble.
Tmsewsnews gathered that the incident occured on 13th March, 2025, when the suspect, Clare, published the report against the victim over an undisclosed matter.
The cause of the feud between the duo is yet to be disclosed by the Police, who are said to bei investigating the matter ç to know what led to the publication of the offensive report against the complainant.
According to the Police, the suspect had a disagreement with the complainant and she published false statements, which instilled fear and false alarm against the complainant.
The matter was reported to the Police at Force Criminal Investigations Dept, FCID Annex in Alagbon, Lagos where the operatives moved into action, that led to the eventual arrest and detention of the suspect at the Command for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
Tmsnews learnt that after thorough interrogation, the Police found her culpable and charged her before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charge read:
“That you, Aririahu Clare ‘F’ on the 13th day of March, 2025, in Lagos, within the Lagos Magisterial District, did publish false news against one Osideko Adeola Damilola with intent to cause fear and alarm to the public and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 39 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, S.O. Ayodele, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the prosecution to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.M.Kayode-Alamu, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when she will perfect her bail condition
