Earlier today in Abuja, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), His Excellency Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, after he formally handed over the affairs of the Party to the new National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.

Addressing an enlarged meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC), and other Party officials after the hand over, Turaki declared that “with unmistakable firmness,
“The PDP will never die. This party is bigger than any individual or group of individuals. Those who have chosen to dine with our opponents while still wearing our colours have been shown the way out. This is the beginning of a disciplined, united, and purposeful opposition that will rescue Nigeria in 2027.”

In his farewell remarks, Ambassador Damagum thanked the Party on behalf of other members of the NWC for the opportunity given to them and pledged to work together with the current members towards achieving the needed reforms in the Party.

In another development, the Party’s National Working Committee issued Certificates to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, and other members who have persistently engaged in anti-party activities.

The PDP acting under Article 59(3) of the PDP Constitution (as amended 2017), had on November 16, 2025 at the National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, ratified the expulsion of the following members for gross anti-party activities, sabotage, and open collaboration with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

1. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister of the FCT.
2. ⁠Samuel Anyanwu, former National Secretary
3. ⁠Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, former Legal Adviser
4. ⁠Umar Bature, former National Organizing Secretary
5. ⁠Abdulrahman Mohammed, former National Vice Charman, North Central
6. ⁠Ayo Fayose, Former Governor of Ekiti State
7. ⁠George Turner
8. ⁠Austine Nwachukwu, former Imo State Chairman,
9. ⁠Abraham Amah, former Abia State Chairman, others.

These expulsions are final and irrevocable.”

The Chairman further assured all loyal members that the PDP under his leadership will:
Immediately commence healing and reconciliation among genuine members while
enforcing party discipline without fear or favour.
He also pledged to rebuild PDP structures across the 36 states and the FCT so as to present a formidable, united front against the failed APC administration

“The PDP is alive, strong, and marching to victory in 2027. No amount of money, blackmail, or intimidation will stop us,” Turaki declared.
