From Dooshima Terkura, Makurdi
Preparatory to the forthcoming general elections in 2027, the Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor on Community Relations and Engagements, Mr Terna Andura has mobilized his community members to participate in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) E-Registration exercise.
Andura made this call when he registered as number one member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his Mbatan Council Ward, Mbayion in Gboko Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State, receiving membership registration number of 001, in the ongoing e-registration and re-validation exercise in the community.
The Special Assistant who spoke after his registration at Apine Market Square, venue of the exercise, tasked the councillor and all APC members in Mbatan council ward to give the registration agents all the support they need and to mobilize the people to fullly participate in the exercise.
According to him, “this exercise is going to run till the end of January, and only verified, registered members will be eligible to participate in the upcoming APC congresses.”
Andura, who appealed to the people to avail themselves for the opportunity recalled that the Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, during the flag off had promised that his administration will give priority attention to the most registered areas. “So let us come out enmasse to register because this is the only way to vote for candidates of our choice in the forthcoming elections,”he said.
While commending President Bola Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for initiating the e-registration programme, which would go a long way in helping the party to determine its numerical strength, Andura also applauded Governor Alia, for his participatory leadership style.
He further appealed to all APC members in the area and beyond to build a strong united and formidable force that will attract development to the area.
He also urged all APC members in the community to revalidate their registration and as well encouraged others to join the party and do same.
He however, expressed happiness for their turnout at the e-registration centre describing it as a show of concern, and support for the reelection for Governor Alia and President Tinubu come 2027.
Some of the APC members who spoke with our correspondent including Pa Iorlaha Steven, Idye Avule and Atakpa Patrick, all commended Governor Alia for finding their son worthy to work in his cabinet, saying “we are solidly behind the Governor to ensure his re-election bid come 2027.”
