As the tenure of elected officials of the People’s Democratic party ( PDP) is fast winding down in Nasarawa State, aspirants are jostling to lead the party at different levels. The apparent size of the party requires tested hands to pilot its affairs, being the leading opposition political party in the State.
Speaking to journalist shortly after purchasing the form for the chairmanship position while addressing a crowd of supporters, Alhaji Adamu Bako Ninga says that he is going to consolidate on what his would be predecessor, Mr Francis Orogu had achieved and done, if there is need for improvement which he said there would always be until the party recaptures power and beyond in the service of the entire people of the state. He his administration would do all of that, through working as a team and taking decision on the round table, ensuring that all the lapses in all the areas that the party was lagging behind will be closed and chart a new course for success and transformation.
Bako who is the current State secretary of the party, added that on assumption of office his priority would be to hit the ground running, by conducting a further SWOT analysis, to examine the Strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to make ensure that Nasarawa State is returned to PDP.
“I want to really thank God for granting me the opportunity to be here today, I also want to thank members of the PDP in Nasarawa State, most expecially those that have confidence in me, my teacher, the leader of the consultative forum, they fought, went round discussed with elders of Nasarawa State to find me worthy to come and collect the form to contest for chairmanship in Nasarawa State. I sincerely want to appreciate them all.”
Mr. Bako Ninga however said that his policy drives will revolve around reconciliation so members that can come back to the fold and work for party victory, explaining that he will also motivate existing members of the party that better days are here as everyone will be rewarded for what they have been doing for the party, adding that the recruitment of more members to the party will remain paramount through out his tenure if elected.
Speaking on carrying everyone along, he said “the people are the owners of the party in the State and we are having a very competent woman leader that will soon come on board, we are going to put our heads together both the new ones and the old ones to collaborate and win election again in Nasarawa State, after winning twice and it was denied us for one reason or the other, we are going to take over next time by the grace of God.”
According to Adamu Bako Ninga, he does not care who is in the race with him, but he is concerned about the call of the people of Nasarawa State that is why he has answered, as he will only know his opponents during the congress and he is confident that he will take the day.
On his part, the chairman consultative forum of the party, Alhaji Umaru Gwamna, said that the special thing about the chairmaship aspirant is that he has worked in this cabinet for eight years as a secretary, gathered enough experience, he knows the terrain of the whole State and was part of the 2023 winning team although some negative forces deprived the party and people of victory, which he is going to perfect the strategy and take the party to the promised Land.
While advising the chairmanship aspirant to carry everybody along within his cabinet and also block all loopholes created either by the previous ones or by himself to ensure that the party returns to winning ways.
