2027: What we need in Nasarawa is issue based campaign, peace Adamu Ninga

By David Odama

The Labour Party governorship runing mate in Nasarawa state, Alhaji Adamu Ninga, has called for peace and issue-based political campaigns in Nasarawa State.

The immediate past Nasarawa State Chapter of the People’s Democratic party, who made the call during an interview with journalists in Akwanga, cautioned politicians and their supporters against acts of violence, intimidation and personal attacks ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The LP, governorship running mate to Hon. Jonathan Gaza, emphasized that peace remains essential to the development of society, stating further that violence cannot produce meaningful results or create the conditions needed for communities to prosper.

“I therefore, appeal to politicians in the state to focus their campaigns on issues, policies, programmes and their records of service rather than attacks on political opponents.

According to him, political campaigns should provide the electorate with the opportunity to examine what candidates have done in the past, present and what they intend to, and are capable of doing if given the opportunity to serve.

Adamu while encouraging voters to look beyond political rhetoric and carefully assess the antecedents and records of those seeking their support, also urged the electorate to remain vigilant during the political season, noting that the ability of a politician to speak or make promises should not be the yardstick or basis for gaining public confidence.

He further appealed to politicians across Nasarawa State to conduct their campaigns responsibly, emphasizing that political differences should not become a reason for violence or attacks.

He also call for peaceful participation, reiterating that violence cannot produce what peaceful engagement cannot achieve, and urged all stakeholders to prioritize the peace, unity and development of Nasarawa State as the 2027 elections approach.
