The Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Professor Nora Ladi Dadu’ut and some members of her entourage on Thursday narrowly escaped death when their convoy ran into some irate youths in Namu community in Quaanpan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Eyewitnesses told TNSnews that some vehicles in the convoy of the lawmaker including a security vehicle and that if the NUJ were burnt by the irate youths who accused her of poor representation and abandoning her constituents.
TMSnews gathered that some people stormed the community on Thursday afternoon and abducted four members of the community.
The angry youths blocked the convoy of the Senator and started burning tires, insisting that the Senator must work out the return of the four persons before she is released.
It was observed that those trapped in the community including the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon Musa Gyang and Director General of ICT Plateau State, Mr. David Dasar.
It was learned that some traditional rulers who attended the event could not calm down the situation as the youths remained adamant to their plead.
“Prominent Plateau citizens that attended her programme are still being held hostages by these aggrieved youths as we speak because the security operatives were overwhelmed,” a source said.
Meanwhile, the Quaan Pan Local Government Area authorities have declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Namu town and its environs with immediate effect.
Gideon Godenaan Dashe, Secretary of the LGA disclosed this in a statement sighted by this newspaper.
The statement read, “Following a review of security breaches in Namu on Thursday April 28, 2022, the Authorities of Quaan Pan Local Government Council of Plateau State, hereby impose a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Namu town and its environs with immediate effect.
“By this announcement, citizens of the area are expected to remain indoors, until further notice while security operatives have been mandated to take charge of the town.
“Citizens are advised to remain law abiding and avoid any action(s) that will cause further breaches.”
