Igboho’s Trial: Nigerian Government Sends Message To Beninoise Court

The Nigerian Government has filed to give information to the Court D’Appeal in Cotonou, Benin Republic, that the Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho, he is wanted in Nigeria for gun running and some other offences.

This was disclosed by Igboho’s lead lawyer, Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN), who added that Nigerian Government filed information for the court to keep him in custody while they file charges against him, though the Nigerian Government did not file anything on extradition.

“They just want the court to help them ensure he doesn’t leave Cotonou and help them keep him in custody and no court would do that.”

Although Mrs Ropo Adeyemo, the German-born wife of has been released by the court and given back her passport, the court during its maiden sitting on the Igboho case in Port Novo yesterday evening, Thursday, July 22, 2021, rather authorized the Beninoise Police to retain Igboho in their custody and adjourned the case till Friday, July 23, 2021.

Igboho and his wife were arrested at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, as they attempted to board a flight to Germany on Monday.
