Scores are reportedly killed and properties allegedly destroyed in a fresh herders, farmers conflict in song Local government area of Adamawa state.

The incident our correspondent gathered happened at Kukta, Waltandi district in the Song Local Government Area of the state Sunday morning, according to local sources.

Several people are said to have loss their lives following a clash between herders and farmers in the State.

The incident occurred at Kukta, Waltandi district in the Song Local Government Area of the state early Sunday morning, according to local sources.

Sources closed to the area claimed that “the conflict started some days ago, leading to the death of one farmer and one herdsman”.

“It, however, escalated when herders struck very early about 4 am on Sunday, moving from house-to-house and killed five persons,” the source added.

Our correspondent learnt that the authorities have since responded by deploying security forces to the area to restore normalcy and maintain law and order.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, is quoted as saying that security forces have been deployed to the area to arrest the perpetrators.

According to the police Spokesman, “The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered the Homicide section of the State CID (Criminal Investigation Department) Yola, to embark on a detailed and comprehensive investigation into the alleged herders/farmers clash resulting in the loss of lives and destructions of property which occurred on the 27th of October, 2024.

“The CP is deeply saddened by this unfortunate event as he acknowledges the profound grief and loss caused by this unfortunate act and reassures the Government and Good people of Song local government, that perpetrators would be brought to Justice.”

“The police boss directs officers deployed to immediately bring perpetrators to book,” Nguroje said.
