A large congregation of PDP Supporters gathered at the Party Secretariat to pray for the judges to deliver their ruling based on fairness and justice, not sentiments and influences that would undermine democracy and the rule of law.
In anticipation of the hearing in the petition filed by its governorship candidate David Ombugadu, the supporters said that their recourse to prayers was informed by widespread rumours of attempts to subvert the delivery of justice by those who lost the Governorship Election in the state.
They noted that hearing at the Petition Tribunal is expected to commence when the APC and Gov. A.A. Sule replied to the Petition, which opportunity to respond expires on Tuesday, 9/5/2023.
The prayer attracted supporters from Lafia and surrounding LGAs as well as other sympathisers who believed that the party won the elections of march 18, 2023.
Our correspondent who covered the event said that the special prayers (Salatul Shukra) for the success of Ombugadu/Ohinoyi of PDP at the Tribunal is coming on the heels of similar ones held by Christians and is the second by the muslin Supporters.
In his sermon, Sheik Ishaq Yakubu Jangwa who presided over the Muslim Prayer Session expressed confidence that, “with God all things are possible, while nobody can dare to stop God’s owned Peoject for the well being of the good people of Nasarawa State arguing that Nasarawa State has long been short changed, deprived of people oriented government and pragmatic leader hence the overwhelming mandate given to the Ombugadu/Ohinoyi PDP Ticket.
He further asserted that with the glaring evidence and records from INEC IRev Portal, CTC, BVAS and PU Results as well as the capacity of the legal team, led by Godwin Kanu Agabi (SAN), former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice only God can stop the voice of the people from coming to pass.
One of the participants at the prayer session, Comrade Adamu Mohammed Sarki, said they remain committed to the PDP and the mandate of the people.
LG PRO Yusuf Mohammed Mayor assured the party loyalists that the prayer session shall be sustained until victory song is heard and urged supporters to be “confident and optimistic on the envisaged restoration of our stolen Mandate”.
