OBJECTION TO THE PETITION FOR THE RECOGNITION OF THE PROPOSED “BENUE REGION” AS A FEDERATING REGION

Objection by the Alago Development Association on behalf of Doma Keana, Obi, Awe and Lafia LGAs of Southern Nasarawa State to a surreptitious Territorial Project_Submitted for public consideration by an Unknown persons.

Sir.

The petition of 14 August 2026 for a “Benue Region” conceived and endorsed by only Tiv ethnic nationality of Benue State , purportedly predicated on consent, inclusion, shared history and mutual respect of all the people of the areas of Nasarawa State quoted.in the petition has not spoken the minds of we the constituent people of the Southern Nasarawa State of Nigeria

2. In as much as we have course to reason with those principles, we however do not share on their application in this proposal. As much as we are concerned, restructuring, fiscal federalism, regional autonomy, or improved security coordination is a welcome development, but we Wiill only be part of a generally coordinated processes encompassing of a broadbased spectrum of stakeholders’s who acting together in concert choose or decide for and by themselves, agreeing to any proposed Region” that collectively defines our territory which does not intend to isolate any part of our State as presently constituted .

3. Our objection to be part of the proposal rests on the following;

a. It is irrational for only a tribal group to conceived an idea with no inputs from members of the proposed constituent areas intended for the project

b. No pre discussion mandating proposal to be submitted on behalf of Southern Nasarawa State to any one whatsoever.

Therefore, we totally dissociate ourselves from any forms of dismemberment of the present Nasarawa state- a State status we struggled hard to attain.

c.. The proposal which was secretly initiated is a grand plan to incite the good people of Southern Nasarawa with their peaceful coexisting brothers that constitute Nasarawa State.

4. The purported signatories who have individually and collectively constituted themselves as leader of the unknown and amorphous group are rabblerousers and therefore should be arrested without delay for questioning as to their motive.

5. Conclusively We vehemently reject our inclusion in the proposed Benue Region in its entirety because we never in any way contemplated such idea.
