Former Senate President, former Secretary Government of the Federation (SGF) and now Presidential aspirant on the platforms of main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anyim Pius Anyim was in Niger state to solicit for support ahead of the party’s national convention.
The PDP Presidential hopeful has also scored the President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressive Congress (APC) low in handling security challenges, saying the situation is getting worst compared to the PDP era as lives and properties of Nigerians are consistently under threats.
Addressing state delegates at the party secretariat along eastern by-pass, Minna Anyim promised Nigerlites that he would ensure that Suleja, one of the commercial hubs and a suburb of FCT, Abuja is developed alongside the federal seat of power if elected President.
Anyim who described himself as a Nigerlite recalled his years back growing up in Suleja, when he started nursing political ambition when he was less than forty years and eventually made it to the Upper Chambers of the National Assembly and encouraged interested youths to follow their passion in aspiring for elective positions in order to contribute their quota to the socio-economic growth and development of Nigeria.
As a lawyer, former Senator who later emerged President of the Senate, former SGF where everything about government ends on his table, Anyim said he has got all the knowledge needed to lead the country out of the All Progressive Congress (APC) maladministration.
With experiences from previous positions held, including that of the SGF, Anyim told PDP supporters and delegates that he remained the most suitable for Nigeria’s number one seat, assuring them of immense benefits from his government if he emerge President next year.
He also told youths and women politicians in particular not to worry about fair representation as he recalled as the SGF how the PDP administration had a woman as Coordinating Minister of the economy and promised to repeat the same if he emerges Nigeria’s President.
Responding to questions on security challenges, Senator Anyim who categorised insecurity including armed banditry and youth restiveness in three folds and how he intends to tackle the menace said it is unfortunate that Nigerians are no longer safe anywhere in the country and the situation is getting out of hand compared to the PDP dispensation.
Leader of the party in Niger state, Senator Zaynab Kure expressed appreciation to Senator Anyim and his entourage for finding state delegates worthy to be visited and consulted ahead of the PDP National delegate conference and the 2023 general election
Chairman of PDP in Niger state, Tanko Beji commended Senator Anyim Pius for considering Niger state worth visiting to canvass for votes ahead of the party’s National delegate conference and assured of their support.
Beji reminded Senator Anyim Pius that in seeking for the office of the President, he should be ready to be ‘a President of Nigerians, not a President of southern region alone or that of a particular religion against the generality of others’.
Niger state will be having close to 100 delegates, Beji said, adding however that he would ensure that only aspirants who visited and consulted with the delegates from the state will be considered during the convention.
