Nasarawa State government has admonished its citizenry to have respect for one another, sanctity of life irrespective of religion, denominations and ethnicity.
State Acting governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe who gave the charge in a message to mark the birth of Jesus said the celebration also teaches humility, respect for one another, love which he said represents the virtues of Jesus Christ.
“As you are aware, the birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes love, peace and humility for humankind. It is for this reason that Jesus Christ, our Saviour came to this world in the form of man and was born in a manger to salvage us.
“”This teaches us to be joyous and share joy amongst Humanity. This period also teaches us to be humble and respect the sanctity of life irrespective of religion , one another
“My dear Christian brothers and sisters, let me use this opportunity to call on you to imbibe the virtues and teachings of Jesus Christ by showing love and affection. We should share what we have with one another irrespective of our religions and denominations.
“I wish to use this blissful occasion to call on all Christians to utilize the blessings of this period to continue to pray for the sustainable peace, health, wellbeing and prosperity of our nation. This is why it behooves on us to remain resolute in our prayers for harmonious co-existence of the people of Nasarawa State and the country at large.
“I wish to also remind you to pray for our President as he remains committed in the provision of good governance and purposeful leadership to Nigerians.”, The statement added.
While acknowledging the hardship being faced by the people as a result of some economic policies being implemented by the Federal Government towards turning around the fortunes of the citizens, the acting governor urged the citizens and Nigerians to remain focused, as the result of these policies would lead to sustainable growth and development.

Akabe, the Acting Governor, on behalf of the Government and good people of Nasarawa State, felicitate with our Christian brethren on this joyful occasion.
“My dear Brethren, as you celebrate this Christmas, I enjoin you to pray for our Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for God’s wisdom and blessings to continue to lead us alright, for peace, stability and prosperity of our dear State.
Dr Akabe therefore cautioned the citizens against indulging in criminal or immoral activities that are inimical to the teachings in our Holy Book Advising the people to avoid flamboyance and extravagance but rather remember and turn to those who cannot afford.
“We should in our sober reflection, remember and pray for the souls that were lost in the stampede in Oyo, Okija in Anambra and FCT, following the sharing of Christmas palliatives. We commiserate with Government and people of Oyo, Anambra and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). May their souls and souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace”.
“At this juncture, I call on all road users to be cautious and considerate. You should obey traffic rules and regulations so as to ensure safety on our roads during the festivities and beyond. In this regard, let me re-echo that, the officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission and other relevant agencies are obliged to step up their operations and surveillance to ensure accident-free yuletide season., The governor stated.
