Former Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Dr Mike Omeri has expressed his deepest concern of the collapse of a bridge and culvert in Keana local government of Nasarawa State.

Dr Omeri in a statement personally signed and made available to Journalists on Wednesday sympathies with the Community and the residents of the area for the unfortunate idisaster that has cut off the community from the rest of the state.

The former NOA DG who blamed the collapse of the bridge on the neglect and insensitivity on the part of government, said that the incident would have been averted if the government in power was sensitive to the plight of the people.

“This tragedy has not only displaced families and disrupted the livelihoods of countless individuals. I share in the profound grief and suffering of all those affected by this catastrophe. .

” My thoughts and prayers are with the traditional Rulers, opinion leaders, stakeholders and the entire people of Keana especially those who have lost their means of livelihood as a result of lack of access roads for the evacuation of their products. I stand with the families who have been displaced and deeply empathise with their pain and distress during this trying time.

“I’m actually aware of the magnitude of the challenges posed by this disaster. I therefore urged the Nasarawa state government and governor to live up to the challenges of the people by urgently deploying necessary measures to address the devastating effect of the bridge collapse and the hardship being encountered by our people”.

While I take into consideration the losses, I have the believe and confidence in the strength and resilience of the people of Keana community, which have been demonstrated over the years.

“Do not doubt that, with the assistance your hardship is temporal as you will overcome this tragedy”..
