By David Odama

The Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice has distributed 20 laptop computers to lawyers working in the ministry as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and align with global digital best practices.

Presenting the laptops, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, charged the beneficiaries to make effective and responsible use of the gadgets in the discharge of their official duties.

He warned that the ministry would no longer condone laxity or unprofessional conduct, stressing that performance and productivity would be strictly monitored.

According to the Attorney General, the laptops were purchased by the Ministry of Justice as a deliberate measure to encourage and motivate lawyers to embrace digital tools, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of legal service delivery in the state.

He noted that since assuming office, the welfare of staff has remained his topmost priority.

Barr. Danladi further disclosed that the ministry also purchased six desktop computers for the Ministry of Justice Library as part of preparations for the establishment of an electronic (e-) library, aimed at improving research, legal documentation, and access to digital legal resources.

“The world has gone digital. Gone are the days when counsel complain of lack of working tools,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Barr. Adole Umar expressed appreciation to the Attorney General and the ministry for the gesture, assuring that the lawyers would make judicious use of the laptops to justify the confidence reposed in them.

The presentation ceremony was witnessed by top officials of the ministry, including the Permanent Secretary, Mohammed A. Adi; Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Barr. Justina A. Allu; Director, Legal Drafting, Barr. Yahaya Y. Ideh; Director, Reforms, Ishayaku Barki Gyado; and Director, Administration and Supplies, Suleiman Mohammed Akwe.
