President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election conducted in Benue State on Saturday, securing an overwhelming majority of votes cast.

Announcing the outcome after collating results from the 23 local government areas, the Benue State Governor and Returning Officer, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, declared that Tinubu garnered 374,787 votes to defeat his sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, who received 779 votes.

Governor Alia disclosed that the state had a total of 390,507 registered voters, while 375,566 votes were cast during the exercise.

According to him, Tinubu’s total votes clearly positioned him as the winner of the APC presidential primary in the state.

Declaring the result, the Governor said “I, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the State Collation Officer, certify that the information contained in this report is accurate and that, by virtue of the votes cast, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged winner of the presidential primary election in Benue State.”

Alia commended APC members across the 23 LGAs for what he described as a peaceful and orderly conduct throughout the exercise, noting that the outcome reflected the President’s growing acceptance and influence among grassroots supporters in the state.

He expressed optimism that the massive endorsement recorded during the primary would translate into victory for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The governor also praised party officials and members of the APC secretariat for their dedication and commitment during the process.

“I thank members of the Secretariat for their efforts, the state APC chairman who has barely slept in the last few weeks, and everyone who participated across the state. The process was peaceful, calm, and smooth,” he added.

Alia further appreciated security agencies for maintaining order and ensuring a hitch-free exercise across the state.
