By David Odama

A group under the auspices of Concerned Benue Forum For Justice and Accountability has hailed president Bola Tinubu for sacking some principal characters in the leadership crisis that erupted at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State.

The Group in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator,
Comrade James Ameh, described the unfortunate development that would have thrown the young growing institution in Benue South Senatorial District into anarchy as well disrupt academic activities.

The statement observed that the two months stewardship of the sacked Pro Chancellor, Engr Salami has not only taken the Institution back, but created disunity among critical stakeholders in the State.

According to them, Nigerian Universities are expected to be sanctuaries of personal growth, professional development for the country, ‘ however recent happenings in FUHSO under Engr Salami led Council has exposed grim reality of a clear selfish political motives without recourse to the sanity of the University ‘

The Forum while acknowledging the bold and leadership disposition of the President for the quick intervention that has restored peace, unity and sanity to the university in line with the eintant law.

They commended the National Universities Commission and the Federal Ministry of Education for also being in the forefront as regulators and supervisors.

It would be recalled that recently the Federal Ministry of Education in a letter by the Minister, Dr Tunji Alausa to the Governing Council of FUHSO conveyed the approval of the President’s removal of the Pro Chancellor, Engr Ohieku M Salami along with Prof Ediga Agno and Mallam Aminu Abba as Acting Vice Chancellor and Registrar respectively.

Arising from this, the Ministry directed Council members to elect acting Council Chairman among the external members and the approval of the President for the Senate to nominate and recommend the most senior Deputy Vice Chancellor for appointment as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University..
