Concerned by the killing of one Ibrahim Mathew a an ND 2 student of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, the state Commissioner of Police Shettima Jauro Mohammed has ordered a full scale investigation into the death of the student in the state.
CP mohammed In a statement signed and issued to journalists by the command spokesman SP Ramhan Nansel on Friday, said On the 6th of February, 2025, at about 0200hrs, a report was lodged at Nasarawa Division by one Mercy Bassey, a female resident at the address behind ECWA Peace College, Shagari Road, Nasarawa, regarding a violent altercation between two individuals.
According to the statement, the incident occurred between one of her tenants and his friend at their lodge.
“Upon receiving the report, the commissioner of police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed immediately sent a team of detectives who promptly responded to the scene.
The statement further revealed that detectives found one Ibrahim Matthew, a part-time ND2 Computer Science student of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (FPN), lying in his pool of blood.
SP Nansel further explained in the statement that Ibrahim had suffered fatal injuries and was immediately rushed to General Hospital Nasarawa, where he was confirmed dead adding that his body was subsequently deposited in the morgue for post mortem examination.
“Following a swift investigation, the suspect, one John Gambo, a male ND2 student in the Banking and Finance Department of the same institution, was apprehended. The suspect had confessed to had violently attacked and hacked the deceased with both an axe and a knife, leading to Ibrahim Matthew’s death.
Both the axe and the knife were recovered from the suspect” The statement added
