The Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has declared open the Jos National Trade Fair on Tuesday at the Jos Polo Ground.
The 16-day 2025 Trade Fair is a collaborative effort between the Plateau State Government and the Plateau Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (PLACCIMA) and has the theme ‘Driving Innovation and Technology to Unlock the Hidden Potentials of MSMEs ‘.
Governor Mutfwang who was represented by his Deputy Josephine Piyo, said that his administration has introduced initiatives that are designed to empower entrepreneurs, attract investors, and position Plateau as a hub for business and innovation.
“This trade fair is more than just an exhibition; it is a rallying point for commerce, industry, and innovation. Today, we are not just showcasing products and services; we are unlocking possibilities, building partnerships, and charting a course for sustainable economic growth.
“This year’s theme resonates strongly with my administration’s vision for Plateau State. Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of any thriving economy, and here in Plateau, we are committed to creating an ecosystem where they can flourish.
“This administration believes that a vibrant private sector is the engine of economic prosperity. That is why we have taken decisive steps to strengthen the business landscape by establishing an Ease of Doing Business Committee, an SME Council to provide strategic direction and support for small businesses, revitalizing the Plateau Microfinance Development Agency
(PLASMIDA) to facilitate access to finance among others,” he said.
Governor Mutfwang reiterated that Plateau State is open for business and boasts immense potential in: Agro-allied industries, Food processing and packaging, Tourism and hospitality, ICT and digital entrepreneurship as well as Solid minerals and responsible mining.
He urged investors, both local and international, to explore and harness the opportunities as his government is ready to support, facilitate, and ensure that investments in Plateau State yield maximum returns.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Mohammed Nyalum, praised the State Government for reviving the trade fair and its effort to support small and medium enterprises, agribusiness, innovation, and general human capital development.
