Declaring the event opened earlier, former Senate president Dr Bukola Saraki said that the event was meant to build solidarity and speak with one voice at the upcoming PDP National convention scheduled for 30 and 31 October.

Most of the speakers at the occasion including Senator Walid Jibrin who is chairman of the bord of trustees (BOT) of the party, suggests continuous meetings to reduce rancour and encourage unity as has been achieved because most of the offices zoned to the area have been sorted out through consensus making it one of the only zones to achieve the feat early.

Leaders who attended the event included former governors who are still in the party from the zone, present and former members of the National Assembly, former ministers, all state chairmen, other leaders like Senator Zainab Kure, Suleiman Adokwe, Philip Aduda and Solomon Ewuga were also present.

Others include Dr. Mike Omeri, Bagudu Hirse, Mike Abdul, Idrus Wada among several others.

The meeting afforded the leaders of the party from the zone an opportunity to forge a common front ahead of Saturday’s convention.
