Deji Adeyanju, a popular Nigerian activist and former spokesperson for the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP has claimed that the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu was tricked into a peace meeting and subsequently arrested.
Adeyanju who disclosed this on twitter said that someone high up in government told him they used a guy, a politician Kanu trust to deceive him to come for peace talks and arrested him in one of the African countries.
This however is contrary to the report of Abubakar Malami, the nation’s minister for Justice who on Tuesday briefed newsmen that Kanu was arrested in London through the combined efforts of the Nigerian security operatives and the Interpol.
Meanwhile, the British High Commission in Nigeria while responding to questions from journalist on Tuesday, said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was not arrested in the United Kingdom.
Kanu who was arraigned in court on Tuesday afternoon by Nigerian authorities after being on the run since 2017, is facing charges of treasonable felony.
