A 20 year old man simply identify as Bakura has been arrested in Maiduguri for reportedly killing his three year old girl..
The young young Abuka suspected to be the father of the three year old girl allegedly born outside marriage was arrested by the jere police division while preparing to bury the child.
Trouble started when he allegedly had a fling with the mother of the girl Fatima Musa which resulted in pregnancy.
Fatima decided to keep the baby instead of terminating it to avoid embarrassing her parents and that of the young man since they were not married.
A source who is also a rights activist told our correspondent that
“we were informed that the girl died as a result of brief illness but upon our arrival at the scene we noticed that the girl was cleaned and preprepared for burial which was contrary to our directive on not tempering with the corpse.
“We also observed blood coming from her nose. The primary suspect is the father whose name is Bakura and approximately 20 years old and his parents, siblings who were the custodians of the girl.
“We are suspecting that the girl was killed because of the hatred the father had for her and her mother. We are yet to confirm how she died because the autopsy result is not yet out.” Said the source.
Upon hearing the matter the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in maiduguri deployed an investigation officer to investigate the matter and act accordingly.
After preliminary investigations, the matter was referred to the Nigerian police which arrested and detained the suspects for further investigation.
State Coordinator of the NHRC has since been following on the case to ensure justice to all parties.
Meanwhile the matter has since been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Nigerian police for further investigation.
When contacted police spokesman Nahum Daso said he was out of town but will supply this reporter with further updates of the arrests when he returns.(www.krestnews.com).
