The newly appointed Campaign Spokesperson to the Senatorial Candidate for Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Dr. Mike Omeri, OFR, Hajiya Maryam Osuza, has declared that the 2027 senatorial election presents an opportunity for the people to elect a leader who will unite the zone and provide quality representation at the National Assembly.

Speaking at her inaugural press briefing in Lafia on Tuesday following her appointment, Osuza described her new role as a call to service and pledged to lead an issue-based, peaceful and people-oriented campaign anchored on competence, integrity and development.

She expressed gratitude to Dr. Omeri for finding her worthy of the appointment and assured him, party faithful and supporters of her commitment to discharge the responsibility with honesty, professionalism and unwavering dedication.

“I accept this responsibility with humility, dedication and a deep sense of duty. I assure Dr. Mike Omeri and his political associates that I will discharge this assignment with honesty, professionalism and unwavering commitment,” she said.

Osuza said the campaign was not merely about politics but about restoring public confidence in leadership and ensuring that the voices of the people of Nasarawa South were effectively represented at the national level.

“This campaign is bigger than politics. It is about the future of our people. It is about restoring confidence in public service and ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard at the highest level of national decision-making,” she stated.

She identified unemployment among youths, insecurity affecting farmers, poor rural roads, inadequate support for women, and the need to improve education and healthcare as major challenges confronting the senatorial zone.

According to her, the district requires a representative with the competence, integrity and national influence to attract meaningful development.

“The people of Nasarawa South deserve a senator with proven competence, integrity, national acceptance and the experience to attract opportunities to our land. That person is Dr. Mike Omeri,” she declared.

Osuza described Omeri, a former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), as an experienced public servant who had built bridges across political, ethnic and religious divides through more than three decades of service.

She added that many indigenes of Nasarawa State had benefitted from opportunities, mentorship and appointments facilitated through Omeri’s extensive national network, stressing that he had remained committed to the development of his home state.

The campaign spokesperson said Omeri believes in inclusive leadership and sees every community in the district as equal partners in development.

“Whether you are from Awe, Doma, Keana, Lafia or Obi Local Government Area, whether you are Christian or Muslim, whether young or old, Dr. Mike Omeri sees only one people with one common destiny,” she said.

Osuza assured the public that the PDP campaign would be conducted peacefully and would focus on issues affecting the people rather than politics of division.

“We shall conduct an issue-based, peaceful and respectful campaign.

“We will not campaign on the basis of hatred, falsehood or division. We shall campaign on ideas, competence, character and a clear vision for the future,” she said.”

She called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths, professionals, artisans, farmers and students across Nasarawa South to support Omeri’s candidature.

“This is the time to choose experience over experimentation. This is the time to choose integrity over empty statements. This is the time to elect a leader who understands government, enjoys national goodwill and possesses the capacity to deliver effective representation at the National Assembly,” she added.

Osuza reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that the campaign remains focused on service, accountability, unity and development, expressing confidence that Omeri possesses the experience and leadership qualities required to deliver effective representation for the people of Nasarawa South Senatorial District.
