Gov. Emmanuel donates 10 patrol vehicles, gadgets to Police in A’Ibom

Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom on Friday donated 10 patrol vehicles and modern communication gadgets to Police in a bit to further strengthen security in the State Command.

Emmanuel, donating the patrol vehicles at Government House in Uyo, said the patrol vehicles are 10 sienna vehicles, several units of security alarms and communication equipment to the command.

“The patrol vehicles were presented to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Amiengheme Andrew, to further strengthened security and reduced crime in the state,” he said.

The governor said that the gesture is in line with his administration’s commitment to enhancing security in the state and reducing crime during the Yuletide.

He noted that the state government would continue to release the vehicles in batches until it meets the targeted 100 vehicles.

He assured the state police command of the continuous support of his administration to enhance its capacity to mitigate crime in the state and ensure security of lives and property of well-meaning citizens.

The governor urged the police to exercise greater resolve and redouble efforts in combating crime, adding that to whom much is given, much is expected.

He cautioned those with criminal minds to desist from criminal activities and allow everyone to dwell in peace and safety.

Reacting, CP Andrew, who received the patrol vehicles on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, thanked the state governor for his efforts to enhance security in the state.

He lauded the governor for his continuous support to security agencies in the state.

He assured of continued dedication by his men and personnel towards ensuring a safe state where citizens can sleep with “both eyes closed”.
