Former President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim has been described as a patriot and consensus builder who believes that everyone in the country has a talent and skill to contribute to national development.
In a tribute to Sen. Anyim on his 61st birthday anniversary. Dr Mike Omeri, former Director General of the National Orientation Agency and a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement to the press, said that the former Senate President is a consummate politician, a shining light and an emerging leader of purpose in the country.
Recounting how Anyim rose to prominence, becoming a senator at the young age of 38, President of the Senate and later Secretary to the Government of the federation, Omeri attributed Anyim’s successes to hard work, integrity and commitment.
Anyim, a trained lawyer was born on February 19th, 1961, in Ishiagu, a dominantly Catholic community in Ivo LGA, Ebonyi State. He was voted president of the Senate after the late indomitable Chuba Okadigbo was impeached. He held the position of Senate President until 2003.
In 2011, Anyim was appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) by then President Goodluck Jonathan.
Omeri described Anyim as a shining light in the Nigerian political space, having held key government positions without blame or stain to his name, a pointer to the fact that he is a man of integrity whose exemplary leadership traits are worthy of emulation by the younger generation.
