Ahead PDP Convention: Northern leaders adopt Kabiru Tanimu Turaki as consensus National Chairmanship canditate

Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Northern region have adopted former Minister, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, as their consensus candidate for the position of National Chairman of the party ahead of the November elective convention scheduled for Ibadan next month.

Briefing journalists in Abuja after a closed-door meeting of Northern PDP leaders, the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, announced that the adoption of K.T Turaki was a unanimous decision aimed at repositioning the party and placing it on a sound footing ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Fintiri explained that ten positions were zoned to the North, and that Turaki’s emergence as the preferred Candidate for the chairmanship was based on his inclusive leadership style, political maturity, and proven commitment to the unity and progress of the party.

The Governor, who also serves as the Chairman of the PDP Elective Convention Committee, however emphasized that the race remains open to all aspirants, assuring that the party will provide a level playing field for anyone willing to contest.

He further assured that the PDP has put in place robust mechanisms to address internal disagreements and ensure that the party goes into the convention as one united and formidable family ready to reclaim and restore hope to Nigerians
