The campaign Council of the former Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu ( rtd) has denied a statement credited to the Nasarawa government, alleging the involvement of the former Inspector General of Police in the purported incident that allegedly occurred in Lafia on Wednesday 4th of November, 2926.

The Campaign Council, in a refutal statement issued on Wednesday night and made available to Journalists in Lafia, on behalf of the council by its Director, Digital Media and Strategic communications, Chief Otaru Douglas, denied that IGP Adamu and it’s ally were not aware and cannot be involved in an act of lawless.

“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious press statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Dr. Shuaibu Magaji Labaran, SAN

“We wish to state in unequivocal terms that the attempt by the Nasarawa State Government to link His Excellency, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu CFR (Rtd), the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and His Excellency, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to the ugly incident that marred the visit of the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima to Lafia is not only irresponsible, but a clear act of political cowardice and mischief.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to separate His Excellency Mohammed Abubakar Adamu CFR Rtd, from your outing in Lafia

“IGP Adamu was nowhere near the venue of the said incident and has no youth group acting on his behalf to embarrass the Vice President. His Excellency is a statesman of national repute who respects constituted authority and would never condescend to the low level of sponsoring thugs to disrespect the office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, the statement declared..

“If the people of Lafia openly rejected the candidate of your party at your own rally, do not blame it on Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura or the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, (SDP).

According to the Statement, “the rejection that was allegedly witnessed was a spontaneous reaction of the masses to your imposition and anti-people choice of successor. The people detest choice, and you saw it live.

“Instead of issuing baseless press statements and hunting innocent citizens, the APC in Nasarawa State should do a thorough soul-searching, right the wrongs, and reconcile the aggrieved stakeholders of your party, otherwise, you will continue to face embarrassment by the general public”, the statement insisted..

“We urge the APC to respect its founding father, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and the enormous value he brings to the table. You cannot humiliate the man who built the party in Nasarawa State, brought the governor from nowhere and expect to have peace.

“If President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must win Nasarawa State in 2027 which of course, he will, the sitting governor, Engr Abdullahi A Sule and his aides must accord Al-Makura his due respect.

The statement while claiming that over 80 percent of the genuine members of the APC in Nasarawa State have already defected to the SDP following the high-handedness, impunity and intolerance on the part of the incumbent Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule and the Chairman of the party, tasked the Presidency to note that its success at the polls in Nasarawa State in 2027 will be largely determined by members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who are favourably disposed to a rainbow coalition with Mr. President.

“We therefore call on the security agencies to disregard the politically motivated call for investigation aimed at witch-hunting opposition figures, and instead investigate the real cause of the public anger: the failure of governance and internal democracy in the Nasarawa APC.

The statement further call on all the citizens and supporters the former IGP Adamu, the SDP to remain law-abiding and focused on the task of rescuing Nasarawa State in 2027.
