Dr. Mohammed Wakil Appointed Visiting Associate Professor of Governance and Legislative Studies at UNIZIK

Dr Mohammed Wakil, Ph.D (Lond), FNIM, OON, has been appointed Visiting Associate Professor of Governance and Legislative Studies at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Business School, Awka.

The appointment took effect on September 15, 2025, and was conveyed in a letter referenced NAU/A/R/P/G.02, dated September 15, 2025 and signed by the Registrar of the university, Dr Chinenye Gloria Okeke.

Dr. Mohammed Wakil, a former Minister of State for Power and former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, said the appointment represents an opportunity to contribute to academic development and national service.

In a statement personally signed by him, his experience in legislative practice, governance, public administration and law will inform his contribution to teaching, research, supervision and mentorship at the university.

Dr. Mohammed Wakil currently serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies/University of Benin and also teaches Ph.D., Master’s and Postgraduate Diploma students at the University of Abuja.

He expressed appreciation to the Governing Council and Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, for the appointment.

Wakil also pledged to uphold the university’s core values of discipline, self-reliance and excellence while contributing to the development of its students and the broader academic community.

He said he remains committed to serving the country through both public service and academia.
