2027: Forum endorses Ombugadu as Nasarawa Consensus Guber Candidate

The Eggon Political Forum in Nasarawa state have resolved to adopt the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

wed what they described as extensive consultations and a comprehensive assessment of six Eggon governorship contenders.

The resolution was reached at a meeting of the non-partisan forum held at Albert Event Hall, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, where the group said its decision was guided by the overriding objective of promoting political unity, stability and collective interest among the Eggon people.

According to the forum, “we had painstakingly assessed the six Eggon sons who secured governorship tickets on various political platforms, namely. Rt. Hon. Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP, Hon. Shuaibu Umaru Kubi of Accord, Gen. Nuhu Angbazo of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Chris Mamman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Hon. Ibrahim Kassimu Aboh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. John Tanko Kigbu of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

According to the forum, its assessment followed consultations with Eggon stakeholders across the three senatorial zones and in the diaspora, as well as youth, women and elders’ groups and other ethnic nationalities across Nasarawa State.

It further added that the candidates were evaluated against a range of political considerations, including the stability of their respective political parties, grassroots presence, statewide popularity, party structure, previous records in public office, political experience, and the content of their manifestos.

After weighing the factors, the forum declared that Ombugadu had emerged as its consensus choice to represent what it described as the aspirations and collective interest of the Eggon people in the 2027 governorship contest.

The resolution called on the five other Eggon governorship candidates to close ranks and support Ombugadu, stressing that unity of purpose would be essential to advancing the political aspirations of the Eggon people.

The forum also appealed to other ethnic nationalities across Nasarawa State to support Ombugadu’s candidature, presenting the decision as a call for broader political cooperation beyond ethnic lines.

It urged Eggon people across the state and in the diaspora to embrace the resolution in the spirit of collective interest, acknowledging that individual political preferences may differ but insisting that the broader interest of the people should remain paramount.

The Chairman of the Eggon Political Forum, Alhaji Umaru Gwamna, Cingarin Eggon, and its Secretary, Hon. Chief Istifanus Dennis Abaku, Dan Masani Akun/Uban Gari Ende, signed the resolution.

The declaration adds a significant new dimension to the 2027 political contest in Nasarawa State, with the Eggon community seeking to consolidate its political interests behind a single governorship candidate.
