Nasarawa 2027: Igbira, Bassa Reaffirm Support for Ombugadu, PDP

By Okpashi Odama

The Igbira, Bassa and other stakeholders in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have reaffirmed their resolve to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel David Ombugadu, and other candidates of the party in the 2027 general elections.

The communities made their position known during the PDP Campaign Council’s tour of the local government area, where they expressed their determination to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that they would not allow themselves to be misled again in the forthcoming elections.

The community leaders said they had come to terms with what they described as their political misjudgment during the 2023 elections, when they failed to support the PDP.

“We have come to realise our mistakes and how we were persuaded not to vote for the PDP. We are determined not to repeat that mistake in 2027. We therefore urge all eligible voters to remain resolute and make the right choice,” they declared.

They called on the people to support Ombugadu and other PDP candidates, arguing that the community had yet to experience the level of development and attention expected despite its overwhelming support for the ruling party.

“We have seen the truth. We have also seen what Emmanuel Ombugadu has done for our community, even when he is yet to occupy any government position. Despite our overwhelming support for the ruling party, our community has continued to feel neglected,” the leaders said.

Addressing the gathering, the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Yahaya Ohinoyi, urged the various communities, political stakeholders and supporters to rally behind Ombugadu and the PDP, describing the party as a better alternative for addressing the challenges confronting the people.

Ohinoyi appealed to the electorate not to allow themselves to be deceived again in 2027, attributing the current economic and social difficulties confronting the people to what he described as misplaced political choices.

“If voted into power in 2027, the PDP will prioritise the needs and aspirations of our communities. Do not allow yourselves to be misled again. We believe that the decisions made in previous elections have contributed to the hardship, hunger and suffering being experienced by our people today,” he said.

He further assured that an Ombugadu-led PDP administration would prioritise the security of lives and property, promote stability and expand livelihood opportunities, particularly for rural communities across Nasarawa State.

The deputy governorship candidate also called on residents to set aside their political, ethnic and other differences and forge a common front for lasting peace, unity and sustainable development across every part of the state.
