The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced its relocation of 749 polling booths from shrines, as well as religious houses, royal residences, and private buildings.
INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who made the announcement during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in Abuja, added that the country now has 176, 846 full-fledged voting units, up from the initial 119,973 polling units.
Mahmood stated that the relocation is in a bid to shift the voting venues from inconvenient locations across the country to ensure voters safety and security to vote independently without fear of environmental sentiments.
