Benin Varsity Appoints Ex Kogi SSG, Jegede Chancellor

Littoral University, Porto-Novo, Republic of Benin, has announced Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede as its new Chancellor.

 

According to the Founder/Director of the university, Prof. Oyebode Ayeni, Prof Jegede will be responsible for interfacing between the government and corporate organizations.

 

While extolling Prof. Jegede, Prof. Ayeni said: “This appointment is in recognition of your personal experience and attributes, a strong personal commitment to higher education and the values of the Littoral University, relevant professional experience and knowledge in matters relevant to the successful operation of a large complex and diverse organization; experience of leading organisations and chairing meetings, bringing matters for consideration to a satisfactory conclusion.”

 

Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede is the immediate past Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Nigeria.

 

He is equally the past Secretary-General and Chief Executive of the Association of African Universities and at the invitation of Federal Government of Nigeria, was the education Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, in 2008.

 

Prof. Jegede served as Vice President (Africa Region) on the Governing Board of the International Council on Education of Teaching, ICET, and was President of African Council for Distant Education.
