Ex- Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, on Friday raised alarm over alleged move to manipulate the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Nasarawa State.

Director-General of Mohammed Adamu governorship campaign organisation, Mr Musa Hussaini raised the alarm while addressing journalists in Lafia.

According to Hussaini, results obtained from wards and local government areas where voting took place reflected the will of the party members and demonstrated widespread support for the aspirant.

He alleged interference with election result sheets by some officials of the Nasarawa State Government in certain local government areas.

According to him, the alleged actions were undemocratic and capable of undermining the credibility of the primary election.

He called on the APC Electoral Committee to remain impartial and uphold what he described as the genuine results from ward polling and collation centres.

“We, therefore, call on the APC Electoral Committee to remain firm, impartial and committed to justice by upholding the genuine results as obtained at the wards and local government collation centres.

“The committee must resist every form of pressure, intimidation or manipulations, the democratic process must be upheld,” the campaign director stated.

He also insisted that results already declared from polling wards where elections were successfully conducted should be officially recognised.

According to him, the results reflected the mandate freely given to the aspirant by party members.

“The voice of the people must not be suppressed. Democracy within the party can only be strengthened through transparency, fairness, due process and respect by all stakeholders,” he said.

Hussaini urged party supporters and the general public to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding while awaiting the conclusion of the electoral committee’s assignment in line with party guidelines.

Meanwhile, the APC state Publicity Secretary, Augustine Ogaba, declined comment on the allegation.

it would be reported that collation of results from the governorship primary was ongoing at the state collation centre in Lafia, at the time of filing the report
