JUST IN: Terrorists Attack Kaduna Prison, Kill One, Cart Away Cattle

By Steven Kefas

Terrorists suspected to be Fulani militias on Sunday night attacked the Nigerian Correctional Center, Kujama in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state, North West Nigeria, killing one prison staff and carting away several cattle belonging to the center.

An eyewitness who gave his name as Makama told TMSnews that the terrorists came into the community heavily armed and went straight to where the prison cattle are kept.

“When they got into Kujama, they started shooting anyhow. They went to the prison, the Warder in charge of where the cattle were kept narrowly escaped from them.

One other prison staff wasn’t so lucky as he was shot dead by the bandits” He said.

Makama said it took the intervention of the armed squad of the prison and local vigilante to chase the terrorists away.

“The armed unit of the prison and some local vigilante succeeded in chasing the bandits away but they went away with several cattle.” He said.

In a similar development, Security personnel neutralised several terrorists in Kakura community of the same Chikun local government on Sunday morning.

Eyewitnesses accounts have it that no fewer than 27 terrorists who invaded the community were killed while others were arrested by the military.

A resident of Kakura told TMSnews on condition of anonymity that the development has left the community vulnerable for attacks as the terrorists will surely return to avenge the death of their comrades.

“In as much as we are happy that the bandits were repelled and some killed, the government must beef up security in our community because the bandits must definitely return for reprisals.” He said.

Chikun local government has been the epicenter of terrorists activities and cattle rustling in recent times. Over a hundred communities have been displaced according to the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), with hundreds killed and hundreds abducted for ransoms.
